STOP A CLOG BEFORE IT STOPS YOU

Did you know that pouring fats, oils and greases in the drains can form blockages in sewer pipes, which can overflow onto the streets and into homes?  The cost to clean-up after a blockage is high; so proper disposal of fats, oils and greases are good for you, good for the environment and good for your wallet.  What you can do: Pour any fats, oils and greases into a disposable container, such as an empty jar or coffee can.  Once the materials solidify, cover the container and place in the trash.

Public Notice
Fats, Oil and Greases Control Ordinance Ord. No. 4-2006

The City of Hamlet has a Fats, Oil and Grease Control Ordinance in effect for Hamlet’s water/sewer customers.  The purpose of the Control Ordinance is to aid in the prevention of sanitary sewer blockages and obstructions from contribution and buildup of fats, oils, and greases into the City’s sewer system.  The public is hereby notified that it is against City Ordinance for any residential, commercial or industrial water/sewer customer to pour fats, oils and greases in to any drain.  For more information, please contact Hamlet Public Works Department at 910-582-7987.
